Yo! I'm James Aspey, a 29 year old from Sydney, Australia. To put it simply, I want this world to be a more peaceful and chill place for us ALL to live and I'm spending my time trying to help make that dream a reality.

My story goes like this... At 17 I was diagnosed with leukaemia and told I had 6 weeks to live. I beat the cancer after 3 years of chemotherapy and during that time I began partying and abusing drugs. Lots of drugs. I became a passionate personal trainer so I could help others with their health. After 7 years while working on a cruise ship, partying way too much and developing an eating disorder, I met a wise Indian man who told me eating animals is bad karma.

I went vegetarian for a 7 day experiment and felt surprisingly great. I researched into the health benefits and realised I'd been missing out! Cutting animal products from your diet is incredibly healthy and reduces our chances of developing so many illnesses and diseases. The food also happens to be delicious!

Upon more research I discovered the shocking and violent truth of what is being done to animals for food, clothing, entertainment and medical testing. It led me to the question, "If we don't need to kill and eat animals to be healthy, what are we doing this for?" The best justifications I could find were incredibly weak and still to this day I haven't heard a good excuse.

I decided the only way to live in alignment with my values of respecting others was to become vegan. My first major form of activism was a 1 year long vow of silence which I used to raise awareness for animals and promote peace over violence. I travelled around Australia and cycled 5000km from Darwin to Sydney to show vegans can be fit and strong. I broke my vow of silence on Australia’s most popular morning TV show. The interview went viral and was seen millions of times by people all around the world. I appeared in the news in numerous different countries and since then have given over 100 free talks on my journey and the many things I have learned.

Hi James
I can see you have such incredible discipline and you must have sacrificed so much for something so meaningful to you. It has truly generated a magnificent energy to so many. Including myself.
As much as my soul has wanted to take this journey to vegan lifestyle for so long. I have not had the courage until today. The greatest force within us all to make change is exactly that COURAGE!
Thank you and God Bless x
My INSPIRATION!! Today’s the day James. I’m making the transition! ❤
Thank you James
You really have inspired me to take the next step I needed to take to go complete vegan.
You are being the change you wish to see in the world and inspiring so many others along the way, what an achievement!!
Looking forward to seeing you on Ellen and chatting with Russel...their phone calls can’t be too far away!
I just want to say thank you for all your wise knowledge and your passion for fighting against animal cruelty. After a few days of researching and scrolling through your vlog, I became a vegetarian and I’m slowly transitioning into a vegan but I try and cut out and avoid dairy as much as I can, I will become a vegan in time. ️THANKYOU ️THANKYOU THANKYOU for everything James
You’re a true hero
Hey buddy!!!! I wanted to let you know I’ve just hit over the 2 month mark of being vegan, all thanks to you. I feel great and so happy with myself. I wouldn’t have ‘woken up’ to veganism if it weren’t for you. Cheers mate!
I couldn’t be happier with my decision to go vegan. 6 months on, I feel like my behaviour is in line with my ethics, thank you for guiding me!
I was in a cafe yesterday and overheard a girl chatting to a friend about how she decided to turn vegan after attending one of your talks recently. Based on how passionate she was Im pretty sure she’s made a lifelasting change. That’s pretty cool. Good job!
Thank you James, you helped me realise what was going on and became a vego and I was vegan in less than a month
It was YOU and your journey, James Aspey that opened my eyes. After nearly 50 years, I can no longer pay someone else to kill animals for me to eat. I can no longer use animals for THEIR skins, eggs and milk and pretend its ok. Please know that what you are doing is huge xx

Hi James! I wanted to let you know I’ve gone my first week of being vegan. It’s been so much easier than I first thought. I went shopping and bought heaps of pre made vegan food, because I’m lazy. But I’ve just started to make some stuff. I feel so much better and I can’t thank you enough for doing what you did. You’re a total inspiration.
After reading through every word on your page I would like to do everything I can to make the swap to vegan, and increase my meditation from every few days to every single day and extended time.
You are so inspirational. I’ve wanted to become vegan for a couple of years now, but I never had the proper motivation until I watch a video of what you did for those animals. You’re great. The world needs more people like you.
It was a privilege and an Honour to have met you tonight. You are a great speaker who has inspired me to be a vegan. ( I’m the 69 y.o who unashamedly went up to you )
I trust more will be inspired by you into action. Together, we can make a difference.
Keep up the great work!
Thank you so much.
Thank you so much for your talk last night at Jivamukti - inspired me to finally make the change from vegetarian to vegan. I thought the decision would stress me out but it’s already given me so much relief to finally commit to a lifestyle that supports my love and compassion for all beings. Thank you for the amazing work you’re doing smile emoticon and a special thank you for the awesome replies to all the hater facebook comments you get - provides much needed ammo which I’m sure I’ll be relaying in the future.
I was a comfortable vegetarian for years until I met you. At first I felt attacked and uncomfortable but then I put my ego aside, saw the truth in what you were saying and made one of the best decisions of my life. You were my wake up call to go vegan. I didn’t realise I was still contributing to horrific animal cruelty being vegetarian. You helped me live in alignment with one of my core beliefs, to not cause unnecessary suffering to other beings and I’ll be forever grateful for that. Just wish I had’ve met you earlier!
So, I’ve been vegetarian since I was 12 and I’ve been moving towards veganism for the past couple of years. You my friend inspired me to make that happen. There’s something very special about you, and the moment I discovered you I became vegan instantly.
Good day! I spent the night in and out of sleep. My mind was going a mile a minute! You are the catalyst! I go in and out of vegan activism and you’ve brought me back in. I couldn’t stop thinking about what more I can do and how I can make a difference. Thank you!
I’ve only known about you for a couple days, but it seems that you are a positive influence. I live in the States, and half-way around the world I’m reconsidering my food options. Well done.
Just thought I’d let you know that a guy in a store we frequent asked me why I went vegan and what made me take the final step. I told him about you (the woman who works with him knew of you from seeing you on Sunrise) and my words were that we saw you speak and I decided I’d been making excuses for too long so finally started living according to my values and not being a hypocrite and go vegan. I then said “he changed my life”.
I’ve been vegan since Sunday after seeing you speak in Sydney.

James Aspey has really inspired me to stop contributing to acts of animal cruelty and I’m very excited to start my vegan lifestyle!!!
Despite being veggie since I was 7, I was completely oblivious to the cruelty of the dairy industry. People like James Aspey educate and inspire me for that last push to be vegan. Love animals... Love ALL animals!
I just now finally took the time to watch Earthling-OMG!! I am so on board-I now understand what you meant about vegetarians (like I was) still on the abuse train well I’m off now and jumping on the vegan bus!!!
Thank you for your peaceful presence, it’s inspired me to go the extra step and cut ALL animal products from my life.
I was really touched to hear about what you did last year. I know that had to be incredibly difficult, but it speaks volumes. There is no excuse for me to have a little dairy here and there. The treatment of dairy cows is just as horrible as animals who are slaughtered. I’m cutting all animal products out as of right now. Thank you so much! Your incredible actions (voiceless 365) have put thing into perspective for me. I will highly recommend you to anyone interested in the vegan lifestyle.
Hi James!
I just want to thank you for the amazing work you do!!!
A few weeks ago I saw a post you put on your page that said something a long the lines of unless you are vegan you support animal cruelty.
When I first read it, it hit me deep because I had been vegetarian for some time and considered myself to be against animal cruelty.
So in the moment you planted a seed in my heart and so I have educated myself more on the dairy and egg industry’s ( and the effect of animal agriculture on the environment by Cowspiracy) and am proud to say I made the choice to become vegan and it is honestly the best thing I have ever done!
Being vegan is not only great for the animals but great for the environment and myself too! I feel a huge weight has been lifted off my shoulders.
So thank you from the bottom of my heart. Because if I didn’t read your words that day, I wouldn’t have changed.
Vegan for life! :)
I’m doing it, James. Today is the first day of my true compassionate life. Wish me luck!
